Description

If you enjoyed "Aime le mot dit" and "Le monde de mes mots," you'll certainly appreciate this new creation: "Aime le Mot dit, Episode II." "Aime le mot dit" premiered in June 1996 at the Tourcoing Theatre. After fifteen appearances at the Avignon Festival and more than 1,000 performances on French-speaking stages, the time seemed right to create a sequel. The concept remains the same: a journey into the world of words, exploring current events in the tradition of French chansonniers.

Singer-songwriter Jean-Claude Duquesnoit, a regular at the Théâtre des Deux-Ânes, has been quietly pursuing his own path for nearly half a century, far removed from the glitz and glamour of show business. Through his performances, he has established himself as a master manipulator of the French language. This new chapter marks a return to his roots.

A minimalist set: a lectern and a digital kiosk, allowing the actor to interact with the audience without ever manipulating them. Sharp humor, a fertile imagination, and finely crafted dialogue are the ingredients of this delightful show, with not a dull moment. A witty and insightful reflection on the world around us, not to be missed under any circumstances.

*If I'm to believe my dictionary, a chansonnier is an author of satirical sketches or songs, most often political, on current events. Halfway between a journalist and a humorist, the chansonnier doesn't sing, he "chansonner" (from the verb "chansonner," an old French verb synonymous with "to mock").
Being a songwriter means spotting the foolishness of the powerful and denouncing it with a single objective: to make people laugh, smile, and sometimes think, without ever hurting or defaming them. There's only one condition: that originality, cultural references, and quality writing be the primary vehicles.

One last thing. A songwriter is rarely a singer with a powerful voice, and that's just as well, because Mike Brant wasn't a songwriter!
